Bike Swap Starts the Bike Season Rolling

Santa Fe’s bicycling season traditionally kicks off this weekend with the Bike Santa Fe annual Bike Swap.

Riders from Santa Fe and Albuquerque will be wheeling over to St Michaels Village this Saturday, April 1st from 10- 1pm to find some of the best deals of the year on used bikes, gear and clothing for cyclists of all ages and ability levels.

Vendors include many top local bike stores offering a wide range of marked-down products to be cleared out before the new season.

But anyone with old bike gear that has been outgrown, or is just cluttering up a shed or garage is encouraged to also take a table for just $5 and let someone else breathe new life into their old gear… while getting a little cash back in the process.

“This is a great opportunity for any parent to make sure their growing kids are on safe equipment that fits them right. At the same time, they can recycle their older, but still reliable gear to other parents. No one spends a fortune – it’s a win for everyone,” says Jennifer Wellington of Bike Santa Fe.

Santa Fe is rapidly becoming a hot bed for all types of bicycling with the number of local riders exploding and new trails being completed or in planning. New advocacy organizations have been springing up with many represented at the swap to hand out information on upcoming events, activities and volunteer opportunities.

Bike Santa Fe is the leading organization for local cyclists focusing on legal issues relating to cycling and on safe road riding instruction.
