Enforcing the Broken Border: Two Attorneys General in Conversation

Join the Santa Fe Council on International Relations at 6:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 18 at La Posada, 330 E. Palace Ave., for an intimate conversation between two former attorneys general, describing their work in enforcing the border against the Mexican drug cartels. Terry Goddard (Ariz.) will talk about his work in, among other things, stopping the flow of laundered drug money into the U.S.; Gary King (N.M.) will discuss his work in training Mexican prosecutors to litigate the cartels.

While the news is dominated by federal responses to the U.S.-Mexico border–with heated discussion just now around a possible border wall–it is the border states who respond to and shape the many realities of the border every day. On Sept.18, we’ll hear Terry Goddard describe his work in exposing and stopping Western Union’s role in money laundering; and we’ll hear Gary King describe his work with his colleagues across the border in prosecuting the cartels.
